Walter Sir Anthony Johnson, Jr., was the fastest freshman track star in the nation when he came to North Carolina College to run for LeRoy T. Walker. He subsequently won NCAA Division I All-America honors in 1960 and 1961, twice qualified for the Olympic trials, and ran for the USA against England in 1964. He has held Carolina and Connecticut AAU records and NAIA national records.
