Alex M. Rivera Athletics Hall of Fame
During his NCC student career, which began in 1943 and ended after World War II with the seasons of 1946, 1947, and 1948, Earl Foster was NCC's premier track competitor. He won the CIAA championships in the mile and the two-mile runs in 1943, the Robert L. Vann Memorial Championships in the mile and the 880-yard runs in 1946 and 1947, and the mile and two mile Vann championship in 1948. He won the-880 and the mile in the Alabama Relays in 1948 and was a member of the 1948 CIAA Championship Medley Relay Team.
As recently as 1981, he took first place in his class in two events of the National USA Masters Track and Field Championships in Atlanta winning the 440-yard dash and the 440 hurdles.
He is now a classroom teacher in biology and the varsity coach in cross country and outdoor track and field at Amherst County High School, Amherst, Va.
