North Carolina Central University Athletics

The 1954 CIAA Football Championship Team was coached by Herman Riddick.  After winning the school’s first football conference crown the previous season, the 1954 Eagles posted a record of seven wins, one loss and one tie, en route to the CIAA Championship. Riddick’s squad went on to avenge its only setback of the season by beating Tennessee State by a score of 19-6 on December 4 to earn the title, National Black College Champions.
