Alex M. Rivera Athletics Hall of Fame
Carl Sylvio Galbreath played football for North Carolina College for four years, beginning in 1945. He was captain of the football team, named four times to CIAA honors and twice to Little All America honors. He was named the Eagles' Most Valuable Player in 1946 and in 1948. He also played basketball and was a member of the drama club.
He earned his bachelor of science in commerce degree, his teaching certification in physical education, and his Master of Science degree in physical education from North Carolina College. He also holds certification in education administration, earned at East Carolina University.
He served one year as defensive backfield coach for NCC. He played professional football in the Ontario Rugby Football Union in 1950. He subsequently taught and coached in Beaufort County, Charlotte, and Cumberland County, N.C. He was also employed by the Chapel Hill Recreation Department and Duke University.
