CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Fans in attendance at the new Charlotte Knights' BB&T Ballpark got to witness plenty of offense as 14 runs were scored on 26 hits and 16 walks in a nearly four-hour affair that was won by host Appalachian State University, 9-5, over North Carolina Central University Tuesday night.
The Mountaineers jumped out 7-2 after three innings and then held off a gritty NCCU lineup to snap a three-game losing streak. Seven of App State's (7-9) nine losses have been to national ranked teams.
All nine Mountaineer starters hit safely as App State belted out 14 total hits. Junior Tyler Stoup has a pair of hits and two RBI, including his fourth home run of the season. Senior Brian Bauk and sophomore Jason Curtis also drove in two runs apiece for the victors.

Chris Gonnelli allowing six of App State's nine runs in just 1 2/3 innings of work to suffer the loss.
Both squads left 15 runners on base in a marathon that official took three hours and 52 minutes.
The two teams will meet again on Wednesday with NCCU hosting the game at the Durham Athletic Park. First-pitch has been moved up to 4 p.m.
