North Carolina Central University Athletics

Career:  Finished his career with the top batting average in the modern era at NCCU at .348 (98-282), and top on base percentage at .476.  He also finished fifth in slugging percentage at .443.  Started all 77 games that he appeared in with 12 career doubles and five home runs for 34 RBI.

2017:  Dealt with an injury, but started all 25 games he appeared in.  Named MEAC Co-Player of the Week after hitting .556 (5-9) with four walks, five runs scored and a .692 on base percentage during a three-game series with North Carolina A&T (March 13).  Batted .381 with 32 hits, and had an on base percentage of .544.  Reached base safely in 16 consecutive games.  Had 13 multi-hit games, including two four-hit performances.  Went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and a home run against North Carolina A&T (March 10) and had a 4-for-5 day with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored at Florida A&M (May 7).

2016:  Named Second Team All-MEAC.  Led the team in batting average at .333 along with a team-best .444 on base percentage and slugged .434.  Set a modern era record with 66 total hits with 11 doubles, and three home runs with 23 RBI.  Finished tied for ninth in the league in batting average, sixth in on base percentage, fifth in runs scored at 50, and sixth in total hits.  Started the season with a 14-game on base streak, and had another 14-game streak before a 15-game streak at the tail end of the season.  Had a 10- and 12-game hit streak during the season as well.  Had 22 multi-hit games with five three-hit games, including a 3-for-5 game with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored against North Carolina A&T (April 17).  Led the team in steals with 15 on 19 attempts, good for top-10 in the MEAC.  Made 54 putouts with 116 assists primarily as a third baseman.

High School (Lansing H.S.): Was named to All-State First Team his junior and senior year, and won a state championship.

Personal: Born Sept. 5, 1995 in Ithaca, New York.  Parents are Joe and Linda Hopkins.  Majoring in Psychology at NCCU.
