DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth against Campbell, but the Camels were able to leave with a 4-2 win on Tuesday, April 18 at the Durham Athletic Park.

NCCU (16-22) and Campbell (17-20) stayed locked together virtually for the entire game, with neither team being more than a run ahead through the first eight innings.  Campbell hit the board early in the top of the first, but
Evan Holland (Erial, N.J.) immediately tied the game at 1-1 for the Eagles with an RBI single in the bottom of the inning.

The Camels took a brief lead in the fourth inning after a solo home run from Ben Calvano (Kansas City, Mo.) before
Corey Joyce (Lexington, N.C.) laced a tying RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to knot the game at 2-2.  Joyce was the only batter of the game to have a multi-hit performance, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.

The game remained tied at 2-2 all the way to the top of the ninth, due in part to the long relief outing by
Nick Caregnato (Buena, N.J.) who pitched five complete innings without an earned run with just three hits and seven strikeouts.

The Camels turned the tide in the top of the ninth on a two-RBI double by Matthew Barefoot (Dunn, N.C.) that proved to be the deciding blow of the game.

The Eagles are next on the road to take on crosstown foe Duke at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Wednesday, April 19 at 6:00 p.m.
