DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University used four pitchers in a combined 6-0 shutout win over Maryland Eastern Shore without allowing a single walk, and sophomore righty Jeff Hagen (Wilson, N.C.) earned his first career win at the Durham Athletic Park on Wednesday, March 22.
 
NCCU (10-11) did most of its damage in the first four innings by scoring five in the early frames.  Mitch McCrary (Mills Creek, N.C.) and Evan Holland (Erial, N.J.) started the scoring for the Eagles with RBI singles in the first, and then NCCU added one run per inning from the second to the fourth.
 
While the Eagle hitters created separation on the scoreboard, Hagen locked down MDES (3-15) by tossing five complete innings with just three hits, no walks, and six strikeouts. 
 
After Hagen exited, the bullpen did its job by facing 11 consecutive batters without allowing a hit, and tacked on five more strikeouts for a staff tally of 11 punchouts.
 
Josh Little (New Bern, N.C.) and Justice Sampson (Lumberton, N.C.) both fanned two batters during their one inning appearances.
 
At the dish, McCrary was responsible for driving in three of the Eagles' runs on two hits, and Dominic Cuevas (Gurnee, Ill.) touched home three times himself.
 
The Eagles reenter Southern Division play on Saturday, March 25 as they start a three-game weekend set at Savannah State University.
