SAVANNAH, Ga. – A trio of freshmen all finished in the upper half of the field to pace the North Carolina Central University men's golf team to a ninth place finish out of 13 teams at the Savannah Intercollegiate hosted by SCAD at The Club at Savannah Harbor on Saturday and Sunday.
 
Isar Joshi, Iszac Bertagnole and Jamal Hutchison were all within three shots of each other to pace the Eagles. Joshi and Bertagnole tied for 28th place with 54-hole totals of six-over par 222. Hutchison followed two shots behind in a tie for 37th place out of 83 total golfers with a team-high 12 birdies.
 
All three rookies carded an even par round of 72 on the 7,084-yard layout at Savannah Harbor.
 
Senior Kendall Wallace also provided counting scores in each of the three rounds as NCCU picked up wins against Fairleigh Dickson, Holy Cross, Dartmouth and the host Bees.
 
The Eagles turned in stellar rounds of 296 and 292 on Saturday to six in a tie for sixth place heading into Sunday's final round, but NCCU fell a few positions with a final round team score of 307.

North Alabama cruised to the team title with its top two players tying for medalist honors with matching 54-hole totals of seven-under par 209.
 
NC Central is next scheduled to play in the first Arcis HBCU Collegiate Golf Championship at The Club at Weston Hills (Weston, Fla.) on Sunday-Monday, Feb. 25-26.
