DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central men's golf team will compete at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday at The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, N.C. The 54-hole tournament starts Monday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
Eleven teams will play three rounds in two days on the par 71 course layout including 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. In addition to NCCU, the field includes host Appalachian State, Catawba, Howard, Lehigh, Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina A&T, Old Dominion, Presbyterian, Troy and Sandhills Community College. Nearly 80 golfers are expected to compete including individual participants from Charlotte and UNCG.
The NCCU lineup features
Jamal Hutchison,
Nico Tucker,
Kyle Gregory,
Christian Fisher and
Hershal Patel, with
Ben Wade competing as an individual. Through six tournaments this season, Hutchison leads NCCU with a 73.8 adjusted scoring average and Patel has a 79.1 average.
The Irish Creek Intercollegiate marks the last tournament on the Eagles' spring regular-season schedule. After this week's event, NCCU will focus on the NEC Championship which will be held April 24-26 in Ellicott City, Md.
