DURHAM, N.C. – Breylan Fairley of North Carolina Central was named MEAC Setter of the Week on Monday, one day after eclipsing the program's single-match assist record in the Division I era in a 3-2 road victory over Maryland Eastern Shore.

Fairley amassed 59 assists to help NCCU gain its first conference victory of the season. She surpassed the previous record of 58 held by former Eagles' player Celene Morris against Bethune-Cookman on Nov. 17, 2019. 

Fairley's assists against UMES are the most in the MEAC and tied for 17th nationally among Division I players this season.

A Clermont, Fla., native, Fairley added nine digs, one block and one service ace to win her second straight MEAC weekly honor. Last Monday, Fairley was selected Rookie of the Week after averaging 5.89 assists per set and 1.44 digs per set in two matches.

Fairley is off to an impressive start as a freshman. She ranks third in the MEAC in assists per set (6.65) and fourth in service aces per set (0.48).
