DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central setter Breylan Fairley was named MEAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week on Monday.

Fairley averaged 5.89 assists per set and 1.44 digs per set in two matches last week including 35 assists and eight digs in a five-set match against Radford on Tuesday. The assist total was one off her season high of 36 against UNC Greensboro on Sept. 12.

On Saturday, Fairley totaled 18 assists, five digs and two service aces in four sets against UNC Wilmington at the Winthrop Invitational.

For the season, Fairley leads the Eagles in assists and service aces. She ranks fourth in assists per set (5.89) and second in service aces per set (0.50) in the MEAC.

This is the first conference award for Fairley, a native of Clermont, Fla. She is the second NCCU player to win a MEAC weekly award this season.
