ROCK HILL, S.C. – North Carolina Central concluded its September non-conference volleyball schedule with losses to UNC Wilmington and Winthrop in the Winthrop Invitational at Winthrop Coliseum on Saturday. The Eagles fell to UNCW 3-1 (25-20, 13-25, 23-25, 20-25) and Winthrop 3-0 (6-25, 15-25, 23-25).
Kayla Riley totaled a season-high 15 kills and
Talia Emmen added 13 kills to lead the Eagles against UNC Wilmington (5-7 overall) while
Aniah Bass chipped in nine kills. Emmen also had eight digs and two aces and
Isabella Rodriguez led the Eagles defensively with 10 digs.
Lusiana Damuni tallied 19 assists and
Breylan Fairley added 18 assists.
Bass led the Eagles (2-9 overall) with six kills against Winthrop (4-5 overall) while Riley and
Mya Smith both added five kills. Damuni collected 17 assists, seven digs and two aces,
Morgan Wingo registered three blocks and Smith had two blocks.
UP NEXT
The Eagles enter MEAC play next weekend with road matches against Delaware State on Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. and Maryland Eastern Shore on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.
