Eagles Set To Tee Off At NEC Women's Championship

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central will be among 13 teams vying for the NEC Women's Golf Championship this weekend at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Md. The 54-hole tournament starts Friday at 9 a.m. and runs through Sunday.

A team champion and individual medalist will be crowned while the top 10 finishers will earn all-tournament honors at the event, which includes Mercyhurst, New Haven, Stonehill, Wagner, Le Moyne, Fairleigh Dickinson, Saint Francis, Chicago State, Delaware State, Howard, Maryland Eastern Shore and Long Island. NCCU was picked to finish sixth in the NEC Coaches Preseason Poll released in February.

The NCCU lineup features Sanaa Carter, Mya Smith, Cailynn Winford, Sidney Renville and Aubree Clements. Carter has led a balanced scoring effort with a 76.9 adjusted average while Sidney Renville carries a 79.1 average. Carter, Winford, Smith and Clements were named NEC Prime Performers in the spring season.

Fairleigh Dickinson is the defending women's champion. The Eagles placed fourth last season, their highest finish since joining the NEC in 2023.
