GREENWOOD, Ind. – Six North Carolina Central golfers were lauded for their academic and athletic achievements on Tuesday.
The College Sports Communicators honored
Kyle Gregory,
Hershal Patel,
Aubree Clements,
Sidney Renville,
Mya Smith and
Cailynn Winford by placing them on its 2025-26 Academic All-District At-Large teams. Gregory and Patel were named to the men's team while Clements, Renville, Smith and Winford were selected to the women's squad.
The At-Large honorees consisted of student-athletes from NCAA Divisions I, II and III and NAIA. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average. Eligible golf nominees must be in the lineup for 75 percent of their team's scoring events or in the lineup for the conference championship tournament.
Both Gregory and Patel were among the top golfers on the NCCU men's team. Gregory tied for ninth at the NEC Men's Championship to earn All-Tournament honors and Patel finished sixth at the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Invitational.
The four women's golfers helped key the Eagles to a program-best third place at the NEC Women's Championship. Clements, Smith and Winford each won NEC Prime Performer of the Week during the season and Renville posted the team's second highest adjusted scoring average (79.6).
The At-Large category consisted of the following sports - men's fencing, men's golf, men's gymnastics, men's ice hockey, men's lacrosse, men's rifle, men's skiing, men's volleyball, men's water polo, men's wrestling, women's beach volleyball, women's bowling, women's crew/rowing, women's fencing, women's field hockey, women's golf, women's gymnastics, women's ice hockey, women's lacrosse, women's rifle, women's skiing, women's water polo, and women's wrestling.
