The Eagles will vie against 17 squads for team and individual titles in the Surf Club Invitational at the Surf Golf & Beach Club. First round tee time is 9 a.m. Monday with the second round starting at 1:30 p.m. the same day on the par 71, 6,604-yard course layout. Third-round competition is Tuesday at a time to be determined.
The field includes West Georgia, North Carolina A&T, Georgia State, Purdue Fort Wayne, Iona, Longwood, Northern Kentucky, Maryland Eastern Shore, Radford, Appalachian State, Elon, Boston College, Augusta, Rhode Island, Queens (N.C.), Connecticut and Butler. Appalachian State is the host team.
Jamal Hutchison and
Mateo Zolezzi will lead five Eagles' golfers in the tournament. Hutchison was an All-Northeast Conference (NEC) performer last season – the first in Eagles' history – and Zolezzi was named NEC Men's Golf Prime Performer last week after finishing runner-up in a two-man playoff hole at the Arcis HBCU Championship.
