DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central sophomore
Mateo Zolezzi was selected Northeast Conference (NEC) Men's Golf Prime Performer this week for his stellar showing at the Arcis HBCU Division I Championship held in Weston, Fla., on Feb. 22-23.
Zolezzi placed second individually out of 25 golfers after a two-man playoff in the tournament. He fired a four-over 184 through three rounds in the 45-hole event for an overall average of 61.3.
A native of Mexico City, Mexico, Zolezzi was one of five golfers chosen as an NEC Prime Performer. The first spring weekly award recognized top men's performances in all matches played through Tuesday, March 3.
