NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central swept the men's tennis weekly awards announced Tuesday by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Rodrigo Alves was named Player of the Week, while Santiago Pinna earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Alves extended his singles winning streak to four matches with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Daniel Franco-Key of UNC Asheville at the No. 2 position. The senior improved to 4-2 in singles play this season.
Pinna collected his second consecutive Rookie of the Week award and his third overall this year. The freshman is also riding a four-match winning streak in singles after defeating Martin Fuks of UNC Asheville in straight sets.
The Eagles will travel to Orlando, Florida, next week to compete against multiple teams during Spring Break.
