SUWANEE, Ga. – Led by three top five finishers, the North Carolina Central women took second at the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Golf Classic at Laurel Springs Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Eagles shot a 48-over 616 to earn runner-up honors after winning the two-day tournament last year. They finished ahead of five teams with only Texas Southern posting a better score (39-over 607) on the par 71, 6,151-yard course. NCCU was well in front of third place Chicago State (70-over 638) in the seven-team tournament.
The trio of
Sanaa Carter,
Sidney Renville and
Aubree Clements sparked the Eagles. Carter was third with a 6-over 148 followed by Renville in fourth with an 8-over 150. Clements tied for fifth with a 10-over 152.
