SUWANEE, Ga. – The North Carolina Central men placed third on the final day of the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Golf Classic at Laurel Springs Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Eagles shot a 25-over 593 to finish ahead of five teams over two days in the eight-team tournament. NCCU was seven strokes ahead of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which placed fourth (32-over 600) on the par 71, 6,769-yard course.
The only teams placing higher were North Carolina A&T (13-over 581) and Alabama A&M (20-over 588).
Three Eagles finished in the top 10 individually led by
Jamal Hutchison, who tied for second with a 2-under 140.
Mateo Zolezzi and
Hershal Patel were fifth and sixth, respectively. Zolezzi fired a 3-over 145 and Patel carded a 4-over 146, including a 69 to tie for the first-round lead on Monday.
