DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central is among 11 teams vying for the Northeast Conference (NEC) men's golf title this weekend at Kingsmill Resort River Course in Williamsburg, Va.
The three-day tournament, which started Thursday, is on a par 71, 6,831-yard course layout. The other teams competing are Binghamton, Chicago State, Fairleigh Dickinson, defending champion Howard, Le Moyne, Long Island, Maryland Eastern Shore, Mercyhurst, Saint Francis and Wagner.
The golfers competing for the Eagles are
Jalen Brown,
Hershal Patel,
Kobe Narcisse,
Kyle Gregory and
Jamal Hutchison, named NEC Player of the Week twice this season. Last season, Hutchison placed 16
th out of 55 golfers in the NEC Championship.
NCCU is picked to finish sixth in the NEC Coaches Preseason Poll. Last year, the Eagles exceeded expectations at the championship tournament. They were predicted to place 10
th but finished fourth.
