Hidalgo Vega Named to Women’s Tennis All-MEAC First Team for Third Straight Season

DURHAM, N.C. – For the third year in a row, North Carolina Central junior Alejandra Hidalgo Vega has garnered women's tennis All-MEAC First Team honors as voted on by the head coaches and sports information directors of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

The selection was announced on Wednesday evening at the MEAC Tennis Awards ceremony ahead of the 2025 MEAC Tennis Championships on April 24-26.

Hidalgo Vega (Madrid, Spain) finished the regular season with a 12-5 singles record, all played in the No.1 position. She went 4-2 in conference action, defeating opponents from Howard, Coppin State, Morgan State and Norfolk State. Hidalgo Vega's performance helped NC Central sweep four teams at the MEAC Round-Up.

Against non-conference competition, Hidalgo Vega earned notable victories over East Carolina, Longwood, Quinnipiac and Radford.

The three-time MEAC Women's Player of the Week also showed poise and leadership in doubles competition, playing the No.1 and No.3 slots, finishing 11-7 overall. When paired with freshman Valentina de Aquino Monsanto, the duo went 6-3 with a 4-2 record in conference.

The Eagles enter the MEAC Tennis Championships as the No.2 seed after an 11-8, 5-1 MEAC record, facing No.7 Coppin State in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 24 at the Cary Tennis Park at 8 a.m.
