NCCU Women’s Tennis Trio Earns CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – North Carolina Central's women's tennis team had three Eagles named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. Patricia Palencia, Valeria San Miguel Soria and Mariana Zottoli received this honor.

CSC All-District Team members must meet both academic and athletic eligibility requirements. Student-athletes must be at least sophomores academically and maintain a 3.50 grade point average or higher. Athletically, student-athletes must have competed in at least 75 percent of their team's matches.

Palencia and San Miguel Soria also earned All-District honors last season. Palencia completed her junior season with victories over Mount Olive, UNC Asheville and Delaware State. San Miguel Soria officially wrapped up her collegiate career after graduating this past weekend. She earned conference victories over Delaware State, South Carolina State and Coppin State.

Zottoli earned the honor for the first time following a successful sophomore campaign. The Tucumán, Argentina native received All-MEAC Second Team honors and was named women's tennis Co-MVP at the NCCU Eddie Awards, as voted on by the coaches. All three Eagles were also named to the MEAC All-Academic Team.
