NORFOLK Va. – For the third time this season, senior Alejandra Hidalgo Vega and freshman Mariana Zottoli were named the MEAC Women's Tennis Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The conference office announced the awards on Wednesday.

Hidalgo Vega (Madrid, Spain) closed out conference play with a pair of 6-4 winning sets in No.1 Singles against Norfolk State's Yuliya Yurkova on April 12 in the Eagles' only match last week. She holds an 11-5 record in singles this season, earning a double-digit singles victory record in all three of her seasons at NCCU.

Zottoli (Tucuman, Argentina) collected her third conference triumph in No.3 Singles versus Ines Sabadie of NSU. The rookie posted 6-2, 6-4 sets to improve to 8-8 in singles in her first year.

Both Eagles helped contribute to the 5-2 win over the Spartans to wrap up regular season MEAC action and etch a 5-1 record in conference for the first time since 2013.

NC Central's regular season finale is on Thursday, April 17 in Raleigh, N.C. against Shaw at Worthdale Park. The match kicks off at 1 p.m.
