GAINESVILLE, Fla. – North Carolina Central overcame a slow start to finish tied for fifth in the Lady Bison Women's Golf Invitational on Tuesday.
The Eagles shot a 97-over 949 through three rounds in the two-day tournament at the par 71, 5,908-yard Hawkstone Country Club. They opened the tournament with a 39-over 323 in the first round Monday. It would be their highest round score.
NCCU shot a 28-over 312 later Monday and followed that with a 30-over 314 on Tuesday to tie Monmouth for fifth place out of 10 teams.
Queens-Charlotte was the team winner with a 28-over par 880. Howard was second with a 34-over 886 and Youngstown State finished third with a 54-over 906.
Individually,
Trinity Ahing of NCCU bounced back from a tough first round to fire a 16-over 229 which tied two other golfers for 11
th place. She shot a 10-over 81 in the first round but regrouped to shoot a five-over 76 in the second round and a one-over 72 in the third round.
Aubree Clements of the Eagles shot a 25-over 238 to tie for 26
th with one other golfer. Fifty-seven golfers participated in the tournament, won by Grace Vetter of Queens-Charlotte with a one-under 212 score.
