Three NCCU Golfers Named NEC Prime Performers

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Three North Carolina Central golfers were honored as Northeast Conference (NEC) Prime Performers for the month of September on Thursday, Oct. 2.

The NEC highlighted men's golfer Jamal Hutchison and women golfers Sidney Renville and Sanaa Carter mainly for their performances in the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Classic on Sept. 22-23.

Hutchison shot a two-under 140 to tie for second in the HBCU Classic which boosted the Eagles to a third-place finish in the men's division. A week earlier, the NCCU junior carded a two-over 218 to place fourth in the Blue Hen Intercollegiate, including a 69 which tied for the lowest score in the third round.

Carter and Renville placed third and fourth, respectively, among the women in the HBCU Classic. Carter fired a six-over 148 and Renville shot an eight-over 150 as the Eagles ended the tournament in second.

In two tournaments, Hutchison posted a 71.6 scoring average while Renville and Carter averaged 74.0 and 74.8, respectively. The trio was among 20 NEC golfers who earn Prime Performer honors.
