WILMINGTON, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's tennis team completed its fall season at the UNCW Seahawk Ocean Classic that took place on Nov. 1-3. The Eagles competed against Longwood University, Campbell University, UNC Greensboro, Seton Hall University, the University of Mount Olive and the host school UNC Wilmington.
In singles, junior Alejandra Hidalgo Vega, freshman Mariana Zottoli and sophomore Patricia Palencia each had two singles victories throughout the weekend. Hidalgo Vega's victories were over Campbell and UNCG. Zottoli triumphed past UNCG and Seton Hall. Palencia came out on top against UNCG and Mount Olive.
The team swept UNCG on Saturday and Mount Olive on Sunday in singles with junior Valeria San Miguel Soria and freshman Gabriela Mejia Arenas defeating their UMO Trojan opponents. San Miguel Soria also picked up two doubles victories paired with Hidalgo Vega against Campbell and UNCW.
