CARY, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's golf team finished second at the SAS HBCU Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Prestonwood Country Club, while the men's team was fourth in the Div. I standings.

On the women's side, the Eagles finished +80 (306-304-310=920) in the 54-hole event. Alabama State was +58 to win the team championship.

Three players finished in the top 10 of the individual leaderboard, led by senior Trinity Ahing's sixth-place effort at +16 (73-74-79=226). Junior Aubree Clements was a close seventh after firing a +17 227 (75-76-76).

Sophomore Cailynn Winford shot a +23 233 (77-76-80) to finish 10th. Her second-round 76 is a season best.

Junior Sidney Renville (81-86-75=242; +32) was tied for 15th.

On the strength of several strong individual rounds, the Eagle men came in fourth among Div. I teams after firing a 51-over 891 (296-294-301) as a team. Arkansas-Pine Bluff was the top team on that leaderboard.

Sophomore Jamal Hutchison led the Eagles with a sixth-place finish, going +6 over 54 holes (77-67-72=216). His second-round 67 is a career-best.

Junior Kobe Narcisse (74-75-74=223; +13) was tied for 11th, and sophomore Isar Joshi came in 15th after firing a +15 225 (77-76-72); his third-round 72 is a season best. Junior Kyle Gregory came in tied for 16th with a 227 (68-76-83; +17), recording his season best in the second round..

Sophomore Jalen Brown shot a 254 (85-82-87).

In all, the Eagles recorded 10 rounds of 70 or better (out of 15 total).

Both teams will be back in action this coming week. The men will be competing in the App State Individual Stroke Play in Lenoir, N.C., on Saturday and Sunday, while the women will be in Greensboro, N.C., Oct. 21-22 for the UNCG Fall Collegiate at Forest Oaks.
