PALO ALTO, Calif. - After a historic run in the conference tournament, the North Carolina Central University men's tennis team received an invitation to the inaugural Universal Tennis National Invitational Tennis Championship (NIT Championship) on May 17-20 in Atlanta.

The 2023 NCCU Eagles became the first team in the Division I era (since the 2011-12 season) to advance to the title match of the MEAC Tennis Championship. However, due to the timing of the invitation with the student-athletes having already departed campus for the summer, NCCU declined the invitation to compete in this year's event.

In the future, NCCU looks forward to more postseason opportunities, which now includes potential bids to the NCAA or NIT Championships. 

The 2023 NIT Championship will feature eight men's teams and eight women's teams with all matches airing on Amazon Prime Video. For more information, visit UniversalTennis.com.
