DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Freshman
Sidney Renville was the only player to card a round in 70s to pace the North Carolina Central University women's golf team in a dual match against Bethune-Cookman University that was contested at LPGA International on Wednesday.
Renville fired a four-over par 76, which was the lowest 18-hole score out of 10 players that competed on Wednesday by at least six shots on everyone else. Renville's 76 matched her low round of her rookie season.
The six Eagles who teed it up on Wednesday were playing LPGA International for the first time in competition. LPGA International will be the host site of the 2023 NEC Women's Golf Championship in one month.
On one of the longest courses NCCU has played in its first two seasons, junior
Jalea Culliver and sophomore
Olivia Renville turned in scorecards in the 80s. Culliver had the fourth best round with an 87 on the par-72 track that was measuring 6,290 yards long.
Olivia Renville was one shot behind Culliver with the fifth best score, finishing ahead of two Wildcats.
The dual match that was cut from 36 holes to 18 holes did not have any team scores.
NC Central will compete in the NEC Championship at LPGA International for the first time on Sunday-Tuesday, April 23-25.
