NCCU’s Janok Named NCCSIA All-State Volleyball Team


WILMINGTON, N.C. – North Carolina Central University sophomore setter Lauren Janok has added one more postseason award to her growing portfolio as she was selected to the 2021 University Division All-State Women's Volleyball Team as announced by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA).
 
Janok was honored as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Setter of the Year and First Team All-MEAC for her outstanding play in the 2021 season.
 
The resident of Rougemont, North Carolina, finished her first full season at NCCU leading the league with 8.63 assists per set. Janok also ranked ninth in the MEAC with 0.34 aces per set and 10th in the conference with 2.76 digs per set.
 
Janok posted a total a double-double in majority of NCCU's matches this past season. Her 14 total double-doubles topped the MEAC. Janok also had the only triple-double in the conference this past campaign with 10 kills, 33 assists and 15 digs at UNCG on Sept. 7, 2021.
 
The five-time MEAC Setter of the Week also collected Duke Classic All-Tournament Team, Aggie/Phoenix Volley for Unity All-Tournament Team and Fairfield Inn & Suites Dunn Campbell Invitational All-Tournament Team laurels in 2021.  
 
In her first season with the Eagles, Janok garnered 2020 MEAC All-Rookie Team praise after ranking third in the MEAC with 7.67 assists per set in a shortened season that was played in the spring of 2021.
 
Janok helped NC Central to its most wins (11) since 2007, its most MEAC wins (9) since joining the league in 2011-12 and its first ever DI postseason win.   
 
Nominations were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by NCCSIA members.
 
Founded in 2002, the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
 
NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, softball and baseball.
