Scouting the Eagles:
NCCU went 6-11 during the shortened 2020 campaign, and it brings back Preseason First Team All-MEAC selections
Ryan Miller (Blandon, Pa.) and
Luis DeLeon (Providence, R.I.). Miller ranked top-40 in NCAA Division I in total strikeouts, and top-50 in strikeouts-per-nine innings at a rate of 13.89, and DeLeon was one of the top hitters in all of NCAA Division I as he ranked second in the MEAC at the plate with a .393 batting average, a .689 slugging percentage, and a .500 on-base percentage. He also drove in 24 RBI to rank eighth in the nation.
Scouting the Black Knights:
Army has won the last two Patriot League tournament championships in 2018 and 2019, and have made NCAA Regional appearances in each of those two seasons. The Black Knights were voted to finish second in the Patriot League in the conference's preseason poll, and the squad is headlined by senior third baseman Michael Giachin (Livingston, N.J.), who was tabbed as the league's Preseason Player of the Year. In 2019, Giachin led the Patriot League in RBIs (67), doubles (25) total bases (119) and finished second in hits (74) and runs scored (50).
