DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University shot nearly 60 percent from the floor, and tied for the third-largest margin of victory in a 110-32 triumph over Warren Wilson for its 13th consecutive home-opening win on Tuesday, Nov. 23 inside McDougald-McLendon Arena.
NCCU (1-4) shot 63.2 percent in the first half as it knocked down 11 three-pointers, led by
Alex Caldwell (Columbia, S.C.) who went 4-for-4 from the arc in the first period for the second time this year. The Eagles sprinted out to a 61-17 lead over WWC (1-5) after 20 minutes, and never looked back.
Caldwell went on to make his first five three-pointers on the way to a game-high 15 points, and was one of six Eagles to reach double-digits in scoring.
Kris Monroe (Raleigh, N.C.) notched 11 points and eight rebounds, and
Cameron Butler (Chicago, Ill.) registered 11 points with six boards.
Dontavius King (Greenville, S.C.) scored from everywhere on the floor for 14 points and five caroms, and
Randy Miller Jr. (Odenton, Md.) picked up 14 points as well.
Asanti Price (Columbia, S.C.) chimed in with 10 points for the Eagles.
WWC was led by DeMarco Jackson (Nashville, Tenn.) with a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Adonis King (Forest City, N.C.) followed with 10 points.
NCCU will finish up the short home stand on Saturday, Nov. 27 against Apprentice School at 3:00 p.m. inside McDougald-McLendon Arena.
