NCCU's Davis Tabbed as MEAC Defensive Player of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central University senior center Raasean Davis (Chicago, Ill.) was a force in the paint over the weekend as he averaged a double-double on his way to being named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
 
Davis had one of his best games of the season on Monday, Jan. 21 against Morgan State as he put up a double-double of 16 points and a season-high 18 rebounds, helping him average 13.0 points and 14.0 rebounds over the weekend against MSU and Coppin State.  Davis also picked up three blocks and two steals, and shot an even 50 percent from the floor.
 
Over the season, Davis is averaging 15.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, and he's totaled a team-high 23 blocks and 20 steals.  This is the sixth weekly honor from the MEAC for the NCCU men's basketball program, and Davis' fourth weekly honor this season.  This is the second time he's been named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week as well.
 
NCCU will finish its three-game home stand on Saturday, Jan. 26 against North Carolina A&T at approximately 4:00 p.m., following the women's basketball contest.  The game will be live on the NCCU Sports Network and FloSports.
