Biography
Career
Second-fastest Eagle to 1,000 career points in Division I era, taking just 67 games. Two-time All-MEAC selection. Averaged 15.0 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per contest, while shooting 65.9 percent from the field, the second-highest rate in the Division I era behind Jordan Parks (66.0) from 2013-15. Ranked top-30 all-time in career points, tied for sixth in career blocks with 77, and is top-20 in career rebounds with 592. Also tied for the fifth-most games started in a career at NCCU with 69. Has both the fourth- and fifth-most field goals made in a single season at NCCU with 233 in 2017-18 and 213 in 2018-19. Tied for the seventh-most blocks in a single season at NCCU with 42 in 2018-19, and has the fourth-most rebounds with 310 in 2018-19. Became just one of two Eagles to start 35 games in a season in 2017-18.
As a Redshirt Senior (2018-19)
Named First Team All-MEAC, and MEAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player. BOXTOROW First-Team All-American and NCCSIA First Team All-State. Started all 33 games for the Eagles and averaged a team-high 29.5 minutes per game. Finished top-10 in NCAA Division I and led the MEAC in field goal percentage at a success rate of 64.5 percent. Landed second in the league in rebounding with 9.1 per game, and sixth in scoring with 14.8 points per outing. Reached a new career-high with 34 points against Wilberforce (Dec. 30) on 15-for-16 shooting along with 11 rebounds. Shot 100 percent from the floor twice, including becoming part of the first NCCU duo to be perfect from the floor alongside Larry McKnight Jr. against Bethune-Cookman (Jan. 5). Davis went 7-for-7 with 16 points and 12 rebounds in that contest, and later went 12-for-12 at Delaware State (Jan. 14) with 25 points and three blocks, and was one of just 11 players in DI to shoot 100 percent from the floor with more than 10 made field goals. Averaged 12.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game through three games in the MEAC Tournament, and pulled down a double-double with a game-high 16 rebounds and 20 points against North Dakota State in the NCAA Tournament. Preseason First Team All-MEAC selection.
As a Redshirt Junior (2017-18)
Named Second Team All-MEAC, and MEAC All-Tournament. BOXTOROW First Team All-American, NCCSIA Second Team All-State and NABC Second Team All-District. Started all 35 games and averaged 29.0 minutes per game. Finished third in the NCAA in field goal percentage at 67.1, 10th in the MEAC in scoring with 15.1 points per game, and fourth in rebounding with 8.1 per game. Finished sixth in the league with 1.0 blocks per game with a total of 35. Became the first Eagle in the Division-I era to pull down 20 rebounds against Savannah State in the MEAC Tournament (March 8). Scored a season-high 26 points at Bethune-Cookman (Feb. 12). Led the team with 10 double-doubles. Named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week on Jan. 23 after blocking six shots and averaging 6.5 rebounds against Howard and Maryland Eastern Shore.
Prior to NCCU:
Kent State (2014-16):
Totaled 10 blocks and shot 25-for-46 from the field, a rate of 54.3 percent. Had a career game of 12 points and nine rebounds against Oberlin on Jan. 2, 2016. Played in 21 games with one start during his freshman year, and shot 12-for-21 from the floor for a 57.1 field goal percentage. Played 25 games in his sophomore year, and averaged 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.
High School (Paulding County H.S.):
Totaled over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds during his high school career. Named Class AAAAA all-state honorable mention in his senior campaign. Was a two-time first team all-region and first team all-conference selection.
Personal: Born March 13, 1996 in Chicago, Ill. Parents are Terry Davis and Juanna Boatman. Has two siblings.
