Eagles' Long-Range Barrage Not Enough at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – North Carolina Central University rained in 10 three-pointers, but Bowling Green was able to hold off a late surge from the Eagles for a 75-60 final score at the Stroh Center on Thursday, Nov. 15.

NCCU (0-3) and BG (2-2) started the game in a long-range duel, with both sides knocking down three-pointers early in the contest.  Randy Miller Jr. (Odenton, Md.) connected on a pair of triples for eight points over the first 20 minutes for the Eagles, and Justin Turner (Detroit, Mich.) also hit a couple threes for 13 points for the host Falcons.  NCCU hit a cold spell at the end of the period, and that allowed BG to take a 38-24 lead to the locker room.

BG threatened to pull away from the Eagles in the second half, but a fast break from Larry McKnight Jr. (North Miami, Fla.) turned into a three-point play with 12:30 to go to draw NCCU within single-digits at 49-40.  From there, Zacarry Douglas (Landover, Md.) took over as he nailed three treys on consecutive attempts to keep the Falcons in close proximity down the stretch.

The halftime deficit turned out to be too much for the Eagles to overcome, however, as the Falcons were able to hold strong for a 70-65 final score.  Miller Jr. collected a team-high 21 points and knocked own five three-pointers for the second night in a row, and Douglas followed with 16 points with four treys, and nine rebounds.  Raasean Davis (Chicago, Ill.) filled the stat sheet with nine points and nine rebounds, and McKnight Jr. also collected nine points with five boards.

Demajeo Wiggins (Toledo, Ohio) finished with a double-double with a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds, and Turner tacked on 20 points for the Falcons.  Dylan Frye (Miami, Fla.) dished out a game-high eight assists with eight points for BG.

NCCU will finally play its first home game on Sunday, Nov. 18 against Warren Wilson at 2:00 p.m. at McDougald-McLendon Arena.
