Tamara Jeremic notched the only singles win for host North Carolina Central University in a 5-2 loss to visiting Morgan State University on Thursday afternoon at the NCCU Tennis Courts.
The Lady Bears won the other five singles matches in straight sets. Morgan State (4-12) has won four of its last five matches.
Jeremic earned her second straight win, knocking off MSU freshman Yvonne Peters-Washington by matching 6-3 set scores.
The Lady Eagles secured the first team point by winning doubles. Senior
Lynsey Cover and junior
Jamie Rogers won the top billing, 6-4, while sophomore
Jasmine Gabriel and freshman
Emily Pena won, 6-2, on the middle court.
It marked the first win for both of those maroon and gray duos.
Freshman Katia Jordan – the reigning MEAC Rookie of the Week – led Morgan State's singles play with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Rogers in the marquee showdown.
NCCU (2-11) will next host UNC Asheville on Saturday at Noon.
