Alex Dandridge threw six shutout innings and allowed only two hits to lead North Carolina Central University to an 8-4 victory over NJIT on Sunday at the Durham Athletic Park.
Dandridge's pitching performance was aided by timely NCCU hitting, as the Eagles recorded eight runs on nine hits. Junior outfielder

John Ortiz each tallied two hits and an RBI, while junior shortstop
Thomas Prospero drove in three runs.
NJIT (3-7) was topped by Stephan Halibej, who reached safely in four of five at-bats with two hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Jesse Uttendorfer hit a two-run home run to aid the Highlanders.
The victory improves NCCU's overall record to 7-5, representing the best start for the Eagles since the 2013 season.
NCCU gets back to action on Tuesday, March 8 at Charleston Southern before returning to the Durham Athletic Park on Wednesday, March 9 versus Norfolk State at 6 p.m.
