Jamie Rogers did not drop a single game in either of their singles or doubles matches in leading North Carolina Central University to a 5-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women's tennis victory over visiting Savannah State University at the NCCU Tennis Courts Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Eagles have won their last three home matches to improve to 3-6 on the season and remain undefeated in the MEAC at 2-0. The Lady Tigers dip to 0-13 overall and 0-3 in league skirmishes.
After winning doubles, Rogers started NCCU's winning ways in singles action with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win on court four. Senior
Aissa Muamba then pulled the Lady Eagles within one point of the team triumph with her 6-2, 6-2 win atop the Maroon and Gray lineup. Senior
Mia Ramic once again clinched the team win for NCCU by rallying from a first set loss to win her third singles tilt 2-6, 6-0, 6-3. Jeremic added the fifth team point with her spotless 6-0, 6-0 conquest at No. 6.
Muamba (4-3), Rogers (4-4) and Ramic (3-5) all boast 2-0 singles ledgers in conference play while Jemeric (1-5) got into the win column for the first time this season.
A pair of 6-0 bookend wins in doubles provided NCCU with its first team point. Rogers and Muamba were victorious on court one and Jeremic and freshman
Jasmine Gabriel did the same on court three. Ramic and junior
Lynsey Cover were leading 4-2 in the middle contest when play was stopped.
Sophomore Elizabeth Geronimo and junior Jennyfer Vivas notched Savannah State's two points.
NCCU will next play its first MEAC road dual match at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee on Sunday at 1 p.m.
