WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. - The North Carolina Central University women's tennis team dropped its first match of the season falling to the Liberty Flames, 6-1 in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., on Saturday, Jan. 18.at the Greenbriar Resort.

Rebecca Wood helped NCCU avoid a shutout by knocking off the Flame's Rebekah Jenkins at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
LU swept all three matches to win the early doubles point, leading the Lady Eagles 1-0 going into singles play.

Ekaterina Nekrasova dropped the No. 3 spot to Mariely Hassey (6-3, 6-2), followed by Wood's victory.

Tamara Jeremic dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to LU's Lauren Mabe during her first match as a Lady Eagle at the No. 6 spot and sophomore
Aissa Muamba was defeated by the Flame's Maria Khal (6-3, 6-2) at the No. 2.
The Lady Eagles return to the courts Sunday, Jan. 19 as they faceoff with Morehead State at the Greenbriar Resort at 10 a.m.
