WILMINGTON, N.C. – In the second straight day of competition, North Carolina Central women's tennis had a tough outing at UNC Wilmington, falling 7-0 on Sunday afternoon.
NCCU (4-7) entered singles play trailing 1-0 after the Seahawks swept the doubles point.
UNCW (7-3) carried that momentum into singles action, where the Eagles dropped five matches in straight sets. Patricia Palencia was the lone Eagle to claim a set, taking the first 7-6 before UNCW's Katelyn Hubbard responded by winning the second set and securing the match with a 10-5 tiebreak.
NC Central will look to bounce back at the MEAC Roundup this weekend in Norfolk, Virginia. The Eagles are set to face Delaware State, Howard, Morgan State and Coppin State, with action beginning Saturday, March 28.
