MUAMBA AND NASS EARN TENNIS ALL-MEAC HONORS

Muamba Earns Rookie of the Year, Nass Named Coach of the Year


NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central University women’s tennis freshman Aissa Muamba and head coach David Nass were named the 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie and Coach of the Year, as voted by the league’s head tennis coaches and sports information directors the conference announced Thursday, April 18.
 
Muamba tallied a 17-3 overall record including a 15-3 mark at the number three singles position. In doubles action, Muamba finished 9-8, with a 4-1 record in southern divisional play. The rookie lost her first match of the season against Elon but then rattled off 13 straight wins with 11 coming in straight sets.
 
Nass earns his first Coach of the Year award for the women's tennis program and the first for the university since becoming members of the MEAC. In his 12thyear at the helm, the Lady Eagles recorded a 13-7 overall record and posted a 5-1 mark in conference play to earn the second seed in the south. 

Muamba was also named to the All-MEAC First Team alongside sophomore teammate Ekaterina Nekrasova.
