The Lady Eagles tied it up at one-all, when Ekaterina Nekrasova and Aissa Muamba defeated Ana Maria Ortiz and Lourdes Ros in the second slot (8-2), before the overall point went to Campbell which consisted of No. 1 doubles players Olesya Palko and Rebecca Wood falling to Camels Natasha Afridi and Tamara Stanic, 8-4.

After the first two singles matches ended, the Camels still lead the Lady Eagles with a 2-1 advantage in the match. Campbell’s Lindsey defeated Anquilar 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6., while at the No. 3 spot Muamba earned a 6-0, 6-1 straight-set victory over Renz.

Campbell took a 3-1 lead following a 6-1, 7-5 win for Stanic over Palko.

At No. 2 and No. 5, Lady Eagles Nekrasova and Ramic took the first frame in each contest before Ros and Vaughn, respectively, battled back to send it to a decisive third. NCCU battled back on both courts taking both contests to knot the match at 3-3.

At No. 3, Campbell’s Ros took the first set 7-5 over Wood before falling in the second by a close 6-3 score. The pair battled for each point, but ultimately Wood secured a 6-3 victory to help NCCU post a 4-3 victory.

The Lady Eagles advance to 1-1 on the season while the Camels fall to 1-5.

Campbell returns to the court on Sunday, Feb. 17 at Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., with the first serve slated for 2 p.m.
