THE GAME:

North Carolina Central University enters the third contest of a four-game road swing as the Eagles look to get back on track after falling 73-56 to Air Force on Saturday night. NCCU faces its second and final Big Ten opponent of the 2010-11 campaign after dropping a 72-56 decision to the Indiana Hoosiers about three weeks ago on Nov. 23 at Assembly Hall. This will be the final FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) school that the Eagles will face on the road this season.

THE SERIES:

NCCU and Michigan met for the first time on Dec. 29, 2008 as the Eagles gave the Wolverines all it could handle for most of the ballgame before a late run allowed Michigan to pull away for the 77-57 win at Crisler Arena. NCCU is currently 0-4 all-time against the Big Ten Conference.

UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN "WOLVERINES":

Following Friday night’s 75-64 victory over the Runnin Utes of Utah, the Wolverines enter Tuesday’s second meeting against NCCU with a 7-2 record and matched the best start since John Beilein took over the program four seasons ago. Michigan enters the affair winners of four-in-a-row and nearly beat No. 9 Syracuse in the 2010 Legends Classic dropping a 53-50 decision on Nov. 26. Beilein’s record at Michigan is currently 53-55 and has compiled an impressive 603-373 record overall as a head coach in 33 years including a 345-230 mark at Division I schools. Michigan boasts one of the youngest teams in the Big Ten with 11 underclassmen (4-Freshman, 2-Redshirt Freshman, 5-Sophomores) and only 4 juniors along with no seniors. Despite the youth, there is no lack of talent as Beliein is led by one of the most dynamic point guards in the league in Darius Morris. The sophomore is 14th in the conference averaging 14.9 points per game, 1st in the Big Ten (3rd in the nation) in assists with 7.7 helpers per contest, and tied for second in steals with 2.0 per game. Jordan Morgan is second on the team averaging 11.3 points per contest which places him 26th in the Big Ten and he’s 11th in rebounding with 6.6 boards, and 1st in field goal percentage (61.4%). The son of NBA great Tim Hardaway, has made his mark at UM in his freshman season, as Tim Hardaway, Jr sits third on the squad with 11.1 points per game 28th in the conference.

UP NEXT:

Following a seven day layoff, the Eagles will take on Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Fla. in the last contest before the holiday break on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 5:00 p.m. from Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Fla.
