Bharathy Finishes Undefeated in MEAC Singles as NCCU Falls at SCSU

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – On Saturday afternoon, the North Carolina Central men's tennis team fell 5-2 at South Carolina State as both teams were undefeated in conference play.

Both of NCCU's points came in singles. Naresh Bharathy stacked another win versus MEAC competition with his fifth singles victory, collecting a 6-4, 6-2 triumph in the No.4 Singles slot over SCSU's Julius Augunas. The junior has won five consecutive matches.

Hugo Hidalgo Vega garnered the Eagles' second point in the No.1 Singles position. The Madrid, Spain native came out on top 7-5, 6-3 against SCSU's Mikalai Bankou.

NC Central (12-5, 4-1 MEAC) had a highlight in doubles even though the Bulldogs took the point. Oliver Saarinen and Kareem Abdul Hakim won the only doubles match for the Maroon & Gray in the No.2 position, 6-4. The duo finished unblemished when facing MEAC opponents in doubles.

With conference competition wrapped up for the regular season, the Eagles delve back into their non-conference schedule, heading to Greensboro, N.C. to face North Carolina A&T and Guilford in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 12.
