Abdul Hakim Tabbed MEAC Tennis Player of the Week for the Second Time

NORFOLK, Va. – For the second time this season, North Carolina Central's Kareem Abdul Hakim was named the MEAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.

The junior had a dominant showing at the MEAC Round-Up on March 28-30 in the D.C.-Maryland area. Abdul Hakim won every singles and doubles match that he competed in, helping the Eagles go 3-0.

Abdul Hakim garnered wins with a pair of 6-0 sets versus Coppin State, a 7-6, 6-3 triumph over Morgan State and two 6-2 sets against Howard in No.2 Singles.

Alongside senior Oliver Saarinen in No.2 Doubles, the duo earned 6-0 (CSU), 6-4 (MSU) and 6-3 (HU) victories. NCCU never trailed heading into singles, leading with the doubles point each match.

The Maroon & Gray's final regular season conference match will be on the road as the Eagles travel to Orangeburg, S.C. to face South Carolina State on Saturday, April 5. Both teams are undefeated in conference play this season.
