Hidalgo Vega Claims Third MEAC Player of the Week Award

NORFOLK, Va. – For the third time this season, Hugo Hidalgo Vega of North Carolina Central's men's tennis team won the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week award announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

During Spring Break, Hidalgo Vega helped the Eagles go undefeated while in Orlando, Fla. The senior won all five of his singles matches to extend his streak to six victories in a row and an 8-3 record so far in No.1 Singles.

In doubles, the Madrid, Spain native also added three victories to his record paired with junior Rodrigo Alves. Hidalgo Vega's triumphs were over Fairleigh Dickinson, Hampton, Niagara, Findlay and St. Thomas Aquinas, with the latter match being moved up a day early due to rain.

NC Central is currently on a six-match winning streak and will jump back into conference play next weekend at the MEAC Round-Up in Washington D.C and College Park, Md. The Eagles begin action facing Coppin State on Friday, March 28 at 9 a.m. in the nation's capital.
