DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central men's basketball team welcomes two opponents this week, as Mid-Atlantic Christian and Longwood visit McDougald-McLendon Arena. MACU returns for the fourth year in a row on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m., while Longwood plays its ninth meeting against the Eagles on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m.

Series History - MACU: Mid-Atlantic Christian makes its fifth trip to Durham to face NC Central. The first meeting was in 2019, and since 2022, both teams have played each other every season. The Eagles have never dropped a contest, scoring an average of 110.5 points. On the same date last year, NCCU won 112-67.
Scouting MACU: Mid-Atlantic Christian is 4-5 and 1-0 in conference action. NC Central will be the third Division I team that the Mustangs will play, after losses to Hampton and Campbell. Andre Bowles leads the Mustangs in scoring (15.6), rebounding (6.2) and assists (1.4).
Series History - Longwood: Saturday will be the ninth meeting between Longwood and NC Central as the series is tied 4-4. The two teams have played four home-and-home series, dating back to 2009. This will be the first time that the two programs only play once in a season. The Eagles and Lancers split last year's contests, with each team winning on the road.
Scouting Longwood: Longwood is currently 6-6 this season, with an upcoming game at Wake Forest before playing the Eagles. NCCU will be the fourth MEAC team that the Lancers face after falling to Maryland-Eastern Shore and Delaware State and defeating Morgan State. Longwood is spearheaded by Jacoi Hutchinson (13.1), Johan Nziemi (12.8) and Elijah Tucker (11.7), combining for a 37.6 scoring average. The Lancers are 16th in free throw attempts per game (27.8), 5th in free throws made per game (21.4) and 32nd in turnovers forced per game (15.75) nationally.
Last Time Out: In the first-ever meeting between the two men's basketball programs, NC Central fell 103-67 at Rupp Arena to Kentucky last week. Khouri Carvey finished with 15 points, scoring double figures for the ninth time, while Gage Lattimore started cold but picked up his scoring in the second half, going for 14 points. After NCCU was only down by eight points in the first eight minutes, Kentucky went on a 16-0 run, closing out the first half strong. The Eagles were outscored 27-13 on points off turnovers, 52-30 on paint points and 34-15 on fastbreak points, as the Wildcats shot 61 percent from the field.
So Long, Non-Conference: The Eagles are close to wrapping up their non-conference schedule at the halfway point of December. Their last opponent will be Penn State on Dec. 29 in University Park, Pa., marking the ninth road game. NCCU is still searching for its first road win and first Division I victory. The Eagles open the new year against Norfolk State on Saturday, Jan. 3 to begin conference action.
MEAC Minute: NC Central is in the top three in multiple categories in the MEAC. The Eagles are first in three-point field goal percentage (32.5 percent) and turnover margin (+3.42) and are second in free throw percentage (74.8 percent), blocks per game (3.33), assists per game (14.58) and steals per game (9.33). Lastly, NCCU is third in scoring margin (-8.6).
