Eagles Gear Up for Matchup at Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio – North Carolina Central takes its longest road trip of the season on Saturday, Nov. 22, traveling to face the Dayton Flyers. The Eagles are set to tip off in the Midwest at 2 p.m. inside UD Arena.

Series History: This will be the first meeting between NC Central and Dayton, but this won't be the first time the Eagles play at UD Arena. NCCU competed in three NCAA Tournament games at Dayton from 2017-19.

Scouting Dayton: The Flyers entered the 2025-26 season picked to finish third in the Atlantic 10 conference, behind VCU and Saint Louis. Javon Bennett, Amael L'Etang and Keonte Jones were selected to preseason A-10 teams, Bennett the only first-teamer. Dayton is off to a 4-1 start, with their only loss coming at Cincinnati. As a team, the Flyers shoot 47.9 percent from the field, average 32.4 rebounds and attempt 30.0 free throws a game, which is 28th in the nation. Bennett leads Dayton in scoring (18.4 ppg).

Balanced Contributions: In NC Central's last time out, the Eagles faced off with Toccoa Falls at home on Tuesday. NCCU won 123-67 as 12 of 14 Eagles who entered the game scored. Leading the charge for the Maroon and Gray were Gage Lattimore (21) and Jonathan Dunn (20). Joining the duo in double figures were Khouri Carvey, Kelechi Okworogwo, Tekao Carpenter and Kyric Davis.

Back-to-Back: For the second straight week, sophomore guard Gage Lattimore has been named the MEAC Player of the Week. Lattimore averaged 25.0 points in two games last week for the Eagles. Lattimore went 12-of-17 from the field, knocking down nine three-pointers for a career-high 38 points last week against Bluefield State. He's currently first in the MEAC in three-point field goal percentage (54.2 percent) and free-throw percentage (100 percent), and second in scoring (21.5). 

The MEAC Minute: Khouri Carvey joins Gage Lattimore in the top five in scoring in the MEAC at 14.7 ppg, and he's second in field goal percentage (53.3 percent). Carvey's also been a reliable rebounder at 7.5 per game, which is second in the conference. Dionte Johnson is second in assists (5.7) and first in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.4) and steals (3.0). Johnson had 12 assists in Tuesday's contest versus Toccoa Falls.
