DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team begins a three-game road swing with a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) clash at South Carolina State University on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.

NCCU BENCH
The Eagles picked up a dominating victory in their last non-conference game of the season, defeating North Carolina Wesleyan University 110-42 on Tuesday. NC Central (7-10 Overall, 1-1 MEAC) is 2-9 on the road this season and in a four-way tie for third place in the league standings after the opening weekend of conference play.
NCCU has three of the top-six scorers in the MEAC in freshman guard
Kyla Bryant (14.6 PPG, 2nd), senior guard
Kimeira Burks (12.9 PPG, 5th) and junior forward
Morgan Callahan (12.4 PPG, 6th). All three also rank in the top-seven of the league in steals per game for an Eagles team that leads the conference in scoring (68.6 PPG).
Bryant was the top scorer for the Eagles in NCCU's first two MEAC games and she has scored in double figures in 11 consecutive contests. Burks continues to be a 3-point threat with a team-high 37 made treys in 16 starts (2.3 made 3-pointers per game, 1st in the MEAC), but she missed her first game of the season against NCWU. Callahan, who earned MEAC Defensive Player of the Week for a second time last week, has tallied three consecutive double-doubles and has five double-doubles on the season while leading the Eagles with 9.0 rebounds per game (ranks 2nd in the MEAC).

NC Central swept the season series against South Carolina State last season, winning 61-47 in Orangeburg and 72-55 in Durham. The Eagles have won three consecutive games over the Bulldogs. Burks scored in double figures in both of NCCU's triumphs over SCSU last season.
SCSU BENCH
The Bulldogs have lost nine straight games and will be playing for the first time since dropping a 70-46 home game to MEAC foe Howard University on Jan. 8. South Carolina State (1-16 Overall, 0-2 MEAC) is one of two teams still searching for its first league win of the season.
Graduate student Morgan Beacham, a transfer from Bethune-Cookman University, is leading the Bulldogs with averages of 8.0 points, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game in her first season at SC State.
Junior Janiah Hinton and senior Jordan Releford are both averaging 7.9 points per game as SCSU's next leading scorers.
Sophomore Rakyha Reid leads the Bulldogs with 5.3 rebounds per game but has not played since Dec. 21.
Hinton averaged a team-best 8.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game out of returning letter winners in SCSU's two losses to NC Central last season.
